Darko Rundek & Cargo Orkestar

During the 90s, when Yugoslavia collapsed, most of its artists and intellectuals exiled themselves. The Croatian singer Darko Rundek left Zagreb for the Parisian suburb where he lives now for more than 10 years. In former Yugoslavia Darko Rundek, singer of legendary group " Haustor ", was the idol of a whole generation. His poetic texts were on all the lips. In exile in France, he had to begin again everything from the start. It is at this moment that he formed the group Cargo Orkestar, a merger of ’survivors’ of all the places of the Balkans and moreover, who knew a similar live.

The point of departure of the project was the songs of Darko Rundek : authentic poetry and rich in images. These one contain, besides a traditional music, the potential susceptible to welcome influences of the diverse origins, at first the Balkans, Central Europe, and the Mediterranean Sea then the reggae, the South American, oriental, electronic, African music... Musicians’ meeting of very different formations, with their strong personalities and respective skills allowed to deepen and to widen this potential towards a musically opened fusion.

Habib Koité & Bamada,The modern griot

With a foot solidly anchored in past and the other one determinedly ready to evolve in the current world, Habib Koité is the artist of a generation, which was witness of the fall of the cultural barriers. "Muso Ko", is the first album of Habib Koité and Bamada. Very well welcomed by the criticism, its second opus " Ma Ya " goes out in 1998. It will receive the favors of the critics.

In 2001, his third album " Baro " makes allegiance for the Mandingo culture and for the afro-Cuban influences, but also in blues and flamenco. " Fôly! ", a double CD recorded live, brought out in 2003, will be the witness of the power of Habib on stage, roamed by more than 1000 concerts in 13 years of presence. He develops a more intimate singing and an eminently personal voice on his fourth album, federating influences stemming from numerous Malian cultures.
